Meta
As one of the leading social media giants, Meta is a big worldwide target receiving millions of threats a day. My job was to build a product to monitor, notify, prevent, and report potential threats.
/// Meta created its own organization-wide platform. This is the only platform Meta uses. I joined the Meta Safety team and quickly learned all the threats Meta assets face through social media, natural disasters, world events, and through the ever-evolving technological advances. The main challenge was redesigning and designing a net-new product to keep Meta assets safe. Meta assets include all employees, contractors, sites, and campuses worldwide.
Just for being such a titan in the media world with Facebook, Instagram, the executive team, and all the new technological hardware, Meta is an international target every day and it was a challenge to keep all Meta assets safe.
/// When I joined the Meta Safety team, I learned about the millions of threats Meta and Meta assets receive every day. I was tasked with redesigning 3 products and designing a net-new product which is used on a global level. The 3 products I redesigned was focused on communications and notifications to alert Meta assets of potential threats. For these discussions, I will focus on the net-new product I designed. It was a combination of 2 products called Estrix. The main purpose was to identify, alert, and budget all global threats on Meta.
/// The business determined it was important for the landing page to be a giant interactive map with pins that identified all Meta sites. This was important as Estrix would be used 24/7 at the 4 main international Safety campuses around the world. The product was displayed on a 120 x 80 feet monitor and the Safety team monitors all threats throughout the day and night. It was important to provide a heat map of all the sites, campuses, and countries and see all the activities.
The first approach was to gather all the requirements. I built a spreadsheet of all the Meta assets and locations.
Next, I had to see what the Safety team would monitor and the details to display.
Lastly, I needed a spreadsheet to monitor costs of the threats. This is used for all budgeting reports.
/// I completed the full scale Estrix design and presented it to the business team, which included executives, developers, and owners. This product has launched globally and currently monitors all Meta threats, costs involved, and reports.
