The Challenge

The Challenge

/// Phoenix Technologies is well known in firmware, hardware, and computer protection but has never produced a software product. The main challenge was the industry competition and the big deadline to launch a new software product by December 2022 as the company wanted to go public.

My Role

My Role

/// I was hired as a Lead UX Designer and quickly took over the designs that were in development for over 2 years. Unfortunately, the prototypes were not usable. Once, I did a deep dive, I created new prototypes and the President, Gerard Moore, was so impressed my direction and designs, and promoted me to VP of Product Design and Development so I could lead the company's first software product, FirmGuard to market. And that's exactly what I did.

The Approach

The Approach

/// I did a lot of research of the cyber security industry. I interviewed and worked closely with an independent user that helped shape the user needs and design. I started the branding and marketing until I was able to hire a Marketing and Web team. I interviewed and hired a new front-end design team and lead our daily stand ups and weekly executive reviews. Using Figma, I was able to design and work with the developers and engineers to launch our new product. I lead the new user program and provided the product for free and lead the test market team. This provided us hundreds of user testing panels.

/// After the successful launch of FirmGuard on March 6, 2023, the product was sold to the military, small and large organizations, and eventually sold in cars and other end products that were targets for cyber attacks.
